There are 3 types of subterranean termites in each colony: soldiers, reproductive, and workers. The soldiers defend the colony from invaders, such as ants. The reproductive termites reproduce and are identified by their black bodies and clear wings that are longer then the body. The workers are the ones you need to worry about, they are a creamy white color and they cause the damage to your homes. Most homes in Oklahoma will get termites as some point. Make sure you have a licensed termite inspector check your home annually! |

The type of termites found in Oklahoma are called subterranean termites. These subterranean termites travel through dirt tunnels to avoid the air which dries them out. Subterranean termites build these dirt tunnels in the walls of homes and destroy the wood and sheetrock. Spring is the time when termites begin swarming, which means they are leaving the colony and starting a new one. Have a licensed termite inspector check your home annually to avoid costly damage! |
