The type of termites found in Oklahoma are called subterranean termites.  These  subterranean termites travel through dirt tunnels to avoid the air which dries them out.   Subterranean termites build these dirt tunnels in the walls of homes and destroy the wood and sheetrock.  Spring is the time when termites begin swarming, which means they are leaving the colony and starting a new one.  Have a licensed termite inspector check your home annually to avoid costly damage!
